Description:

Open smart contract platforms are dark forests. Announcing one’s dApp existence is equivalent to turning yourself into a honeypot where one’s tokens and users’ liquidity are up for grabs by anyone smart enough to find an exploitable weakness in the code.

It is usually prudent to have a fresh set of eyes (the more the better) look at a dApp’s codebase before launching it in production. That’s what smart contract auditors do. They try to identify common weaknesses, edge cases and spot potential problems with one’s code before their DeFi app enters the dark forest. Although they can’t guarantee impregnability, they do provide an additional level of security, preventing potentially costly exploits.
